Here we are at the end of September, and I can hardly believe it. Mostly because the weather here in Virginia hasn’t really shifted to fall yet. Soon, though, as October is just about here. But we’re not here for a weather report, let’s get to stitching!
Prompt for Monthly Discussion
How do you keep your stitching stash organized?
Organized? I would use that term pretty loosely, to be honest. Actually, here’s a visual representation of how I feel about my stash these days.
I so badly need to get into my office/craft room/catch all space and do some cleaning up. But it’s hard to choose that when stitching calls so often.
Stitching Recap
Speaking of stitching, let’s recap. This was a pretty one-sided month. Whatever plans I had originally in place, quickly went out the window in lieu of near manic obsession over one project.
Let’s start there. I wanted to finish page 3 on In This Moment by Heaven and Earth Designs, artwork by Jeremiah Ketner. And I did that pretty early on in the month. Then, after a brief departure, I came back to it, with the mild goal of just working on page 9. But, even at that point, I had no intention of finishing the page. Fast forward a few days, I finished page 9 and found myself completely incapable of moving on. As such, I also finished page 15. I wanted to slow play this last page of my year-end goal on this project, but it didn’t matter what I wanted. I spent 25 days on In This Moment this month, and put in just shy of 20,000 (!!) stitches.
I got to touch on some of my favorite aspects of this artwork – the blues towards the bottom, the first of glimpses of one of the swans, and a peak of gorgeous electric blue hair. I think that may play a large role in this obsession.
I suppose that’s a “finish” for In This Moment for the year. I have big goals for this project next year, so I may use these last three months of 2018 to get a bit ahead. Perhaps.
Meanwhile, I still have plenty other projects to get some much needed attention. It being September, I think it goes without saying that I had to work on Lady of the Flag by Mirabilia. I worked on her for a few days closer to 9/11 and the 17 year anniversary, and then again now to close out September.
I feel this mania creeping in again. Perhaps its end of year motivation to get things finished, or a change in approach. Regardless, I am considering going monogamous on my leading lady until she’s finished. I won’t say that with any real certainty, and today is only day two, but I am considering it. Time will tell.
Goals for October 2018
As I said, I may work quite a bit on Lady of the Flag. If I don’t, I’m spending the month on some Halloween projects. As they aren’t included in my WIPocalypse, my end of October update might be a little misrepresentative of what the month holds. See you then!

Hi Jessie, really enjoyed reading your blog post. It’s amazing to see how much you accomplished on your HAED. As well, Lady of the Flag is absolutely stunning. I can too relate to the desire to see a Mira as beautiful as yours completed.
